R/V Skoden is a durable, 8.23-meter (28’) welded aluminum vessel, designed for research and community initiatives
on Great Slave Lake, Northwest Territories. Powered by twin 175hp outboard engines, it achieves a cruising speed of 20-25 knots and a maximum speed of 32 knots. With a 3-meter (10’) beam, a spacious 2m x 3m (6.5’ x 10’) working deck, and a 400L fuel capacity, the Silver Dolphin is optimized for performance and productivity, accommodating up to six people.
The vessel is equipped with a heated enclosed cabin, private washroom, hydraulic gillnet hauler/capstan, and gas-powered hydraulic system for efficient fieldwork. It also includes radar, multi-beam sonar, TimeZero chart plotter, GPS, VHF and SSB radios, FLIR thermal imaging, Starlink Internet, and a satellite phone, ensuring seamless operations and communication even in remote locations.
